Dynamic album not working correctly

Using dynamic album, after a random time, the new images does not appear in the album, if i use image cache nothing more arrive in the album.

Then i use DataBase actualisation, in this case the new image are well displayed, but the album title is changed to become the album name.

As i renamed the generated album name 'Musées du monde.alb' in 'musees-du-monde.alb' i have 'musees-du-monde.alb' in the album title instead having 'Musées du monde.alb'.

Then is it possible to avoid this annoying change or there is an other possibility to retrieve the missing images ?

Zenphoto actually does not rename anything by itself. Except if uploading, then those accents and spaces would be cleared so "Musées du monde" would become "musees-du-monde". But not on a database refresh.

If you rename an album name directly on the filesystem without using Zenphoto's rename tools you make Zenphoto to consider this a new album.
  • Thanks to reread my message, i use all the system interface.
  • I gather from you original description you are saying that you have a dynamic album with a certain criteria. You view that album and it shows you a series of images that match that criteria.

You then add a new image matching the criteria and view the album and note that the image does not show up in the album. Is this correct?

You should understand that under normal circumstances each time you view a dynamic album it will do a search on the database to find the images which meet the criteria and return each that does.

What does NOT happen is a scan of your filesystem to see if there are any new images to process. So if things are happening as you describe it means that no one has "viewed" that image and it does not yet exist so far as Zenphoto is concerned.

The solution to your dilemma is to insure that the image has been discovered once you have uploaded it. There are several ways you can insure this, but the simplest is to use the Zenphoto upload functions rather than something like FTP. If you do use the latter, simply visit the album to which you uploaded the image.
  • OK, sbillard, but i had 77 images not published, i don't no why (i was only working at this moment on dynamic albums and apparently they need to be published).

I just use this dynamic feature to have a view of common parts of my gallery (plants, museums, people, etc.) using a specific tag inside images or albums and i actualize the database when all seems to be frozen.

When new dynamic album is not displayed/supported, my main problem is to have after this actualization/refresh as title name of the dynamic album, the album filename.
'You then add a new image matching the criteria and view the album and note that the image does not show up in the album. Is this correct?'
No, in this case i don't ass a new image, i just add new dynamic album(s) adding new tags inside images or albums.

I fear I can't reproduce the issue (or I still don't fully understand it). If I give an dynamic album a title it is neither changed if refresh the database or clear the image cache. There is no reason it would actually.
  • I reproduce it easily on my test system, updating the database give the same result, my album title of the dynamic albums is replaced by the album filename.

And apparently the Tags are not saved or not restored after a backup/restore.

If you are not using the support build please do so. Sorry, I cannot reproduce this.
  • Sounds like you have a problem with your database. As acrylian has said, install the support release and follow any instructions it gives you.
  • OK, i install the support release and come back to you if necessary.
