File permissions of created cache files

Hello,

I've the following problem;
Whenever I upload a new album using ftp, the generated cache files have the wrong file permissions (600 instead of 644).

How is it possible that the newly created files have the wrong permissions? And what is the solution to this?

This is a matter of your server configuration probably. Best you contact your host about that. Otherwise you have to set the rights manually. See the user guide article about the permissions as well.

I contacted the host about it and they told me that the problem exists on ZenPhoto side. Something I doubt. But still, can't the permission be set at the creation of the files?

Zenphoto does that if it can. To cite from our user guide:

Ideally, permissions should be set up with 0644 files/0755 directories ([rw-r--r--] files and [rwxr-xr-x] directories) permissions, with [youruser:webservergroup] ownership. If you can do that, we highly recommend it. The idea is basically to keep ownership of the files yourself, give group access to the web server, and shut everyone else out.

That it does not happen on your server means that something with the user/owner settings is not correct. It generally does work even on standard shared hosts where I generally use ZP.

I've been contacting the webhost, they keep telling me that the problem exists in the zenphoto scripts. They say they've checked the scripts and saw that the file permissions are changed on several places in the scripts. Somewhere in those scripts it goes wrong they say.

What reasons can I use to tell them it isn't in the script?

btw. I'm using the one.com webhost, has anyone experience with this host? I think it's one of the larger hosts so I would expect that someone already encountered this problem.

The reason is probably (Probably because we cannot know from here) that Zenphoto runs not under the right user as mentioned in the article posted above. If that is the case it sets the permissions wrong.

I don't know your host but on all standard shared hosts (and I bascially only use these) I ever used over here this was never an issue.

It's kind of solved. I installed the program in the root directory of my one.com webserver and it gave problems. Now, after I've placed it in a folder, it works a lot better. File permission problems are completly solved.
