An alternative way to choose languages

anyone know an alternative way to change between languages, the default select form is very ugly, and too limited to styling it.

Yes, make your own custom one. You can also switch the language via url, see the seo_locale plugin

The Dynamic_Locale must be enabled too?

No, it's not necessary: only seo_locale plugin must be enabled.
