FTP upload automatically publish photos

I dont know why when we drop photos in FTP, it automatically publish photos. The industry standard for such uploading, is to publish album after.

Is there something I am overlooking?

Usually when I upload photos in other gallery systems through, I then finalize album name, settings etc, then publish. I upload multiple galleries daily from events, and Im running a commercial website. So i can afford to have albums automatically published to the public with setting proper watermarks, gallery name and other pertinent info.

I get 1,000 visitors an hour, so every minute counts in that situation.

Any suggestions besides uploadin to web based browser(too slow)

You can set that behaviour differently using the "publish content" utility. .
  • Surely you have done something explicit if you are not getting albums published automatically as that is the default. (Of course from your discussion I would guess you really want them not published until you have made your edits, but that is not what you said. Maybe our English?)

Anyway, please refer to this "industry standard" you reference. We certainly do not want Zenphoto to behave differently from such a published standard.

I think he clearly says that he refers to "not publishing automatically" as that standard.
  • But he clearly does not reference the standard which says this. If it is not documented as a standard then it really is not one. So I simply asked for the standards reference so that we can compare what Zenhphoto does with the standard to see if we comply. Sort of like we to with the HTML standards.

Without a documented standard, all is just opinion. And as you well know, that may vary.
  • The confusion is searching the forums. Alot of answers we search and find were from 1 or 2 years ago.

So I saw an answer where you guys said, you will not implement auto Unpublish featured from FTP because some people had publishing issues, even when other users requested this. http://www.zenphoto.org/support/topic.php?id=3138#post-18752

However, I see now that the feature is there. So many of us will get the wrong impression based on previous answers in forum database, Like i did.

I was just saying that FTP Upload without publishing is a standard feature in all gallery systems. BUT now you have it.

Its good that many of these new questions are answered and bumped up the forum list. As some old answers may not help. Thanks alot.

Well, sure but old posts outdating is quite normal and you can't always expect 1 or 2 year old posts to be vaild today. We release new version around every two or three months so that a lot of things change. And sometimes we change our mind or something gets done as a "sideeffect".

Well, now this is really a far reaching statement. I certainly cannot say it is true of ALL gallery systems. Certainly it is optional on Zenphoto (and is not the default), so that falsifies your claim right there. It certainly was not true either for the galleries I evaluated before I settled on Zenphoto. Perhaps you should stick to the point that it is your desired behavior rather than use attempts to intimidate by evoking some Platonic "gallery" concept.
