Gallery Password broken?

I recently upgraded to the 1.3.1.2 [5831] (Official Build). The Gallery Password (options-gallery page)doesn't seem to work anymore. i.e. using the Gallery Password login does not log into the gallery. It comes back with the error:
There was an error logging in.
Check your user and password and try again.

Is this a known problem? Or any suggestions on what I can try?
Thanks

Please read the troubleshooting, there is an entry about what to do.
  • You can enable the security logger plugin to see what is being presented for the logon. Check that against the password you supplied on the option page.

I do not know of any issues with gallery passwords that have been fixed post 1.2.1.2. Last time I tried this on the development built it worked. If you have a test installation you can try the nightly build.
  • I didn't see anything in the troubleshooting page that seemed relevant. I'm not having trouble getting to the admin pages. If I create users, those logins work fine. It's just the gallery login that isn't working.

The security logger is enabled.....have to figure out how to check the log....
  • So mysteriously this is working now. I had created a user with the same name/pwd as the gallery log in, then deleted the user and now it works....not sure what happened....!
  • I have a similar issue:

I am using ZenPhoto 1.3.1.2 (fresh install)
I have set a gallery password and this works for most users. However, some users complain that they cannot login, even though they enter the correct username and password. One case I confirmed myself, which was a Mac running Firefox. When the user logs in it just return to the login screen again.

I tried deleting cookies, reinstalled firefox, but nothing seemed to work on this machine. I tried Safari on the same machine and that worked fine! Really weird.

I get more and more reports from users affected by this. I cannot reliably say that it is a Firefox/Mac problem.

I have not tried the suggested "solution" by wirecutter yet. May give it a try.

I hope some ZenPhoto developer can look into this.

    Cheers,

    Philippe

It might be an encoding issue. If you for example use special characters in the username and password but hte database encoding does not support them so it encodes it.

We need more details about your setup. Anyway, sbillard is the expert on this and it will take some hours for him to respond.
  • Can't really look into anything without some data. What does the security log show?
