How to change the domain name and nothing else?

Hello,

I just bought a new domain name. I want to switch with my current website. I'd like to have everything exactly the same on the new one. Only the domain name must change. But I hesitate about the way to manage the Zenphoto gallery. I need to get back my captions, tags and descriptions. I backup the database each week. Basically what should I do? Should I create a new database or can I use the same one and how? Thank you I am not a geek!

Kind of depends on what your are really doing:

1. Just replacing one domain name with another. In this case there is no change needed for Zenphoto. Your only concern might be that you have imbedded the old domain somewhere in your themes. Zenphoto does not do this.

2. New domain which also changes the structure of the site, but not the server. Run setup again to make the appropriate changes to the Zenphoto installation.

3. Moving servers. Make sure you have a copy of the same zenphoto release on both servers. Make a backup of your database using the Zenphoto backup utility. copy your albums folder and backup folder (and maybe the uploaded and themes folder if you have put anything there) to the new server. Make a new database and run setup to install Zenphoto. When it is done it will offer you the option of creating a new admin user or running the backup utility. Choose the latter and restore the database backup you made earlier.
