Upgraded ZP -- now nothing works

On the latest ZP. Every time I hit the 'Upload' tab or try to edit an album I've already created, I get this message: Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /home/NAME-REMOVED/public_html/gallery/zp-core/class-album.php on line 1046

I forgot when, but I received this at one point, too: 'Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /home/NAME-REMOVED/public_html/gallery/zp-core/functions-basic.php on line 217'

What's going on here?

Does this happen uploading something or before uploading actual files? How many albums and images do you have?

This generally means that your server does not manage to handle what you tell it to do. On hte edit side it maybe related to images being too big for your server to handle. (see the troubleshooting on that).
  • I've got 27070 images. However, before I upgraded, everything worked just fine. I don't see why my images would be too big all of a sudden.

True. Did you upgrade from 1.4 or 1.3.1.2 or from an older release? Regarding upload I don't remember anything significant to have changed. But my collegue will surely have an idea later.

Are there any other errors in the error log of your server?
  • I upgraded from an older release, but the whole process went pretty smoothly.

I reverted back to my older version and restored the old DB. I'd like to have stayed upgraded, but the gallery is a pretty important part of our site (http://scrawlfx.com/gallery), so I needed it working properly ASAP.

Upgrading directly from very older versions than 1.3.1.2 to 1.4.0.1 has not been tested by us. So you will have to do a step by step with all versions inbetween update then.
  • It is hard to say what would be wrong. The error messages just say that some processing is taking too long. But if it happens on slecting the upload or albums tab then most likely it has to do with the albums database. I would try doing a database refresh to be sure there is no structural issue with that table.
