My install seem to have gone flawlessly... expect that I get a cryptic error when trying to create an album through the admin...

You must upload at least one file.
I check in the albums directory and there is no new folder created. I have created a folder via FTP and it shows up in the gallery, but obviously empty. I FTP'd a few images up and there are no thumbnails created and the cache directory stays empty.
I thought this would be a simple access issue but I've had two sets of eyes check the CHMOD and I've tried with and without mod_rewrite.
