captions being replaced by EXIF data

I originally built my site on a utility server then uploaded it to the main host server. After uploading I found that many of the image captions disappeared. (I've followed the online instruction for properly uploading) I restored the database from a Zen Photo backup file and can see that all the information is in the database (as seen through my phpadmin.) As soon the images load the captions disappear and are replaced with EXIF data (in our case SONYDSC - I can't find that text string anywhere in the EXIF data although I do see that it is a Sony camera). I've been trying to debug for two days including multiple data restores and uploading to different servers - but no luck. How do I stop the captions from being replaced and read what is in the database?? All image and albumn IDs as well as filenames have stayed the same throughout.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

    Usually EXIF problems are problems with the camera misusing the EXIF/IPTC fields, but it's possible that this is a bug. sbillard is the one who knows the most about these issues. You should probably open a ticket on the bugtracker and attach an image which is having this issue to the ticket.
