Using a freshly upgraded install of Zenphoto 1.4.0.2 (standard theme), I'm struggling a bit to find the best way to select pictures within an album. Simple situation: let's have a folder called 'Folder_test' and a few pictures in it, some of them having the tag 'Tag_test' (some pictures in other albums can have the same tag). What I want is to be able to select only the 'Tag_test' pictures from the folder 'Folder_test'. Both file/folder names and tags are enabled in the search options.
As I understand it, Zenphoto treats separately folders and files for the search. If I use the search 'Folder_test', it returns the expected album. However, if I refine the search using 'Tag_test', it returns no images. In other words, using a search 'Folder_test AND Tag_test' does not work, as no image or folder meet both criteria at once.
The only way I found to actually achieve my goal was to name the pictures accordingly to the folder, i.e. 'Folder_test_XXX.jpg' and then run the search 'Folder_test AND Tag_test' (now, every image within this folder actually has 'Folder_test' in its name). This is not exactly an elegant solution, as it constrains image names.
Am I missing something here? Is there any possibility to nest an image search within an album search?

If you are custom building the search function call you can have it search only within the particular album. See the function documentation.
Thx for you explanation. I tried to look at the doc, but I'm afraid I don't have the required skills to adapt the search function. I'll probably stick with my approach, or the one you suggested using tags! It will also ensure that I can upgrade to new versions without paying any attention to modified files. I'll see which of these two better suits my needs.
By the way, thanks a lot for this great software: everyday I'm a little bit more amazed by Zenphoto, finding a new functionality that I love
Please continue the good work!
Mathieu.
