Watermark

Honestly I did not understand how to activate a watermark. I have placed the PNG file in the watermark folder as instructed but then?

Maybe a silly question but didn't understand how to proceed.

Thanks!
Nicola

    Two places to select watermarks:
    1. Global one on the options.
    2. On each album/image edit page

Of course you need to clear the image cache to see an effect.

Thanks for the reply but I am still in the dark. Let me explain in detail what I do so maybe you can suggest where I am going wrong.

First thing I have uploaded a PNG image file into dir /plugins/watermarks/.

I am in the [Admin] control panel. So I go to Options>Image. Within the bottom of the page there I find "Watermarks" for Images; Image thumbnails; Video thumbnails. In each drop down menu I can see only five options: *none; copyright; watermark; watermark-text; watermark-video. The name of the file I have copied on the directory does not appear and also whatever I select does not do the job.

    Any suggestion?
    Thanks again for your patience.
  • Be sure that the the folders you are using are correct.

You will have a root folder for zenphoto, perhaps called zenphoto. In that is a folder named plugins. Within the plugins folder is a folder named watemarks. That is where you place the images.

The images you place in that file should have unique names, to distinguish them from the standard supplied watermarks.

Also, as mentioned before if you change watermark settings you need to clear the image cache to see an effect.

Ok so now at Options>Image I have finally found the name of my file. But still the image shows the default "Watermark". I have even followed your tip of clearing the image cache at: Overview>Purge Image Cache. Still doesn't change. The issue is even when I set the drop down menu to Watermarks: *NONE still shows "Watermark".

First change the option, then clear the cache. Otherwise it does not work naturally. If that does not work, maybe look at your server's error log.

Nothing, I have even tried on another browser to ensure it's not a cache issue from my browser but it still shows the same. It does not register the changes. I don't know if it's useful to eliminate the entire installation and reinstall everyhing from zero. It's quite frustrating.
  • clear both your browser cache and the Zenphoto image cache

I have done it and as I said to make sure it's not my browser I have tried it even on a different browser installed on my machine.

I renamed by file to watermark.png that I made and installed it in /zp-core/watermarks/ NOT /plugins/watermarks/

I am now convinced there must be some corruption somewhere and I think the best thing to do is as I said to make a fresh installation. Thanks to all for the support. All the best!

@domc I have adopted your change and it works. Thanks!

However I think something must not be right as it does not accept even when selecting Copyright, still shows the Watermark file which seems not right. And the fact that I am not the only one experiencing this issue tells something's not right. Cheers!

Well, while that will work it is definately not the way to go as each new update to Zenphoto will overrite your version.

    nsiotto:

Take a look at the files in your zenphoto/cache folder. What watermark do they have. If the correct one, then either your browser or your server is caching the images and needs to be cleared. If the wrong one, then this folder needs to be cleared. Just delete it.
