I have got a bit behind on my upgrades and am trying to catch up from version 1.2.9 to the current.
I tried to skip straight there and my whole site went down. I think it was a problem with my customized theme. My theme is based on the Zenpage theme. If this gets updated, presumably my own theme will get out of synch? How can I prevent this from happening?
I'm not sure if I am doing things correctly. When I upgrade should I remove the old files and then upload the new or just upload the new and select to replace existing files.
Sorry if these questions seem basic but I am still learning!
Many thanks

I then went 1.2.9 to 1.3. All seemed OK until I tried to edit my custom theme and got the following message:
"Cross site request forgery blocked."
I have no idea what this means or what I need to do to resolve it!
You can edit your theme direclty via FTP in a proper editor of your choice as well. That is much more convenient than the backend tool that does not even have syntax highlighting. That is more meant for the quick fix inbetween.
To your initial theme questions. If you don'T use a standard theme you will have to update it from time to time. There is of course no way to keep your custom theme updated automatically..
