I simply need to password protect certain albums, but it seems like there is no straightforward way to do that.
I've tried really hard to look it up myself by going though this forum and the FAQs but none of them are the ones that I'm looking forward.

Thanks.
I'm really sorry, I must be incredibly thick - but I've been trying to figure this out for hours now.
I have created a gallery - I have made it a private gallery and have built a general user account and assigned a password. I can then send people that password and username and they can access my gallery..
but I cannot sort out how to assign passwords or usernames and passwords to individual albums in that gallery - do you create a new user account and only give them access to certain albums?
I'm using 1.4.1.8[8157] which I just downloaded today
Thanks very much for pointing me in the right direction

You assign either album passwords on each album admin page or you create users and assign them to (toplevel)albums. You can't miss both if you visit the places actually.
yes.. I've now re-read that. it says
"Album guest user: This username/password is set in the edit tab for the album in question. Viewers must login to view this album or its subalbums."
I think the problem i'm having is finding the "edit tab for the album in question" ... I can see where the username/password is set for individual albums - I must be blind, or missing something BIG here - other things
I mean, right now - I have a username and password set so that users must log in to view anything, and the whole gallery is protected. - but I really want/need to be able to set a different password for each of several different albums in the gallery
thanks again!

right.. so because I've created users and assigned them to toplevel albums.. is that why I can't see album passwords option.??
a light flickers..
i'm going back in to.. um.. remove groups and users and such
<blolckquote>but I really want/need to be able to set a different password for each of several different albums in the gallery
Somehow I must be missing something. Seems to me you have said you know where to set the album user/password in one breath then said you do not know in the second.
Just in case this is a typographical error, give it a try to click on an album in the albums list and see what you get.
when I took out the users and turned off the private gallery - suddenly I could set passwords for each album - and yes.. it's small , but it is pretty obvious -
thanks for your time - sorry to have been such a pain
