Please help: Full Image Protection

I want the original full image view to be protected for unregistered users
but viewable for registered Users:

I checked Users -> Albums -> View full image
and
i set in Options / Image / Full Image Protection - No Access
--> Both unregistered and registered users cannot access original full image

if i set in Options / Image / Full Image Protection - Protected View
--> Both unregistered and registered users can access original full image.

What is the right setup?
Thanks

When I choose Full Image protection: protected view or download and
set a Username and Password in Options / Image
i can still access the original image without beeing logged in....

Is there anything i missed to check?

Again, please review the troubleshooting guide on this. Zenphoto can only protect script access to the images. If you need to protect the images itself you need to do this server side using htaccess. How is explained on said link.
  • Hello,

I am in exactly the same place as Vienna and am hoping to understand the situation.

I am wanting to simply have a library (gallery) where anyone/everyone can view the images inside it, but access to the "full image" is restricted to registered users.

I am aware of the "register_user" element of ZenPhoto (but being aware doesn't mean how to actually set it up) and I would hope to have visitors register using it, so like Vienna, my gallery would have registered and unregistered visitors.

I've looked at the Troubleshooting guide "Security" Point 4. and it seems like either:

    (A) You set a single password to an Album and it's the same password for ALL visitors, registered or not (Published/password protected).

    (B) You leave the Album unpublished, meaning that the Album is technically invisible unless you're logged in as a registered user (Not published/password protected). I assume the password protected bit means the "same password for all visitors" would still be in place.

This is different to what I'd have hoped - where a registered user would be required to add in their individual details specifically at the download full image point.

  • To add...

I've now read the "overview of zenphotos" too and I'm seeing stuff that fits with what I'm after, but being a PHP novice and new to ZenPhoto (day 3 here) I admit I'm struggling a bit.

(sorry to Vienna for seeming to hijack the thread)

It mentions "Zenphoto users are granted rights when their user/password is assigned. This is done on the Options-User tab (Options-Admin-User tab if the user_groups plugin is enabled). The rights assigned control the privileges the user has." But under the main 'Options' tab I don't have 'User'???

Equally, I do have the main 'Users' tab, which I notice has a 'show' dropdown, listing All, Pending Verification and Group. This interests me because we'd need people who register to need Admin verification prior to being able to download anything.

But under the main 'Options' tab I don't have 'User'???
No, if you have not enabled the user group plugin. The tab is named "Users" normally which changes to "Admin" if that plugn is enabled and then has subtabs for "groups" and "users".
  • Thanks for the reply (for some reason I'm not yet actually seeing my forum posts - I assume that to do with being a new member).

Presumably, no, I haven't enabled that plugin... but, being brand new to all of this, I'd have no idea how I'd go about enabling it??? Is there a button somewhere within the Admin control panel? Or is it something more technical, behind-the-scenes?

    Cheers,
    m.

Which is explaind quite obviously in red above the post form...............

You enable plugins on the (sic!) plugins tab. I really recommend to get familar with the reak basic usage of Zenphoto before you ask questions about advanced functionality like user rights..
  • Ok, I hold my hand up and say I'd been "blind" to the main Plugin tab... I'd seen the other Plugin tab underneath Options.

And yes, I had read the red text (hence my written assumption of why).
