Big databases

Hi,

I don't know if you run a bigger install somewhere else and if this makes you proud in any way:

`

mysql> select count(1) from zp_images;

+----------+

| count(1) |

+----------+

| 8237394 |

+----------+

1 row in set (0.00 sec)

mysql>

`

It became more pictures than I thought :)

I don't know of any but we don't have any real statistics anyway. That is indeed a mass of images...I doubt you have looked at any of them yourself..;-)
  • Hi,

no I haven't. But here the whole story:

A friend of mine is working for the newspapers as a professional photographer. He used a Drobo for a few years but always hit problems with that box, so we decided to switch over to a real NAS.
  • Said and done, he bought a Synology DS-1511+ NAS Box and I had to configure it. It took only a few hours till we realized that the OS X Spotlight is not indexing network drives (you can force it todo that, but that's not a good way to go).
  • So we looked for a solution and found Zenphoto as an add on to the Synology box.

    Everything else is known :)

So what you see are about 8 million pictures from over ten years of work :) It's not a Website, it's just for him to be able to search his pictures by the tags he added.

Actually I'm working on the iPhone version with the iPhone theme :)

So again 8 million pictures to convert to that themes special sizes :)

  • Posted this in multiple posts to figure out that URLs are not allowed in the posts =)

    Another thing learned ...

  • It is not that URLs are not allowed in posts. It is that "new" user have their posts moderated as clearly said in the text you had to acknowledge in order to post.

Please wait for a moderator to approve your post in the future. It is really a major chore to try to figure out what is duplicated and what is not. More likely we will just delete all.
  • Ehm,

my posts are available directly after posted. IMHO I'm out of this moderated "phase", so it was something different that didn't allow me to post.

After I removed the URL it just worked...

Yes, you are far beyonde the moderation limit already.

Actually urls are allows (below the box is what tags are). this forum uses standard HTML only and urls are actually automatically converted to links. See www.zenphoto.org
  • Well, something triggered the SPAM filter. Maybe the specific URL form? I don't know.
  • acrylian Administrator, Developer
Might be if the Akisment filter considers an url as suspicious.
  • Hi,

I just posted a link to the Synology website.

This is the tiny url http://tinyurl.com/3fovohj

    Maybe it's working now.

  • Well, a mystery, I guess (unless one of my collegues did approve this last posting.) Anyway, your other posts did show up as suspected SPAM in the spam filter. Why I do not know.

But I guess the lesson here is that if a post does not show up right away, give the moderators a chance to approve it.
