Zen's Limits

Is there any idea of Zen's limits?

I potentially want to have over 1500 albums, with about half of them having huge amounts of images.

I run a site on Costume and Period Drama, which has, all told, over 1500 films ever made. The more well known films will have anywhere from 50 to 1,000 screencaps. Before i put two years into it's full development, does anyone know it's vast limitations?

The limit is your server space and power.

(Just as a small side note: You have of course the rights to publish those screencaps. There is something inconvenient named copyright as you probably know...)
  • Thank you on your quick response. That is very encouraging to hear you feel it can handle anything I have space for. I do have my own server, it is not shared.

I do use the word screencaps loosely, but I do understand what you are saying. You would think the DVD makers would be glad for the added publicity.

    Thank you again.

Oh, I am just starting this album and am running into this situation.

I will have the major index listing all films. I am giving a description and an added link for purchase or trailer. I want to copy that into a secondary album sorted by era, such medieval, Victorian, War Years, etc. The description that I am making in the main index album do not seem to be transferring along with the image.

Is that an expected situation, a bug, or something I haven't set somewhere?

Zenphoto is filesystem based. I would also suggest to read on our user guide and especially the troubleshooting.

To your problem. Because Zenphoto is filesystem based, the database added things like description or titles only "travel" with an image/album if you use the copy functions on each album page. If you use ftp naturally not, except you add them to the metadata (EXIF/IPTC). You probably should take a look at the dynamic albums feature described on the user guide as well.

Probably but screencaps are copyrighted anyway and only the rightsholder can allow... but this forum is not the place for such things, as it is your responsibility anway.
  • Thank you. I will check the troubleshooting area.

I do know that just FTPing an image from one album to another only brings the image.

This issue of not copying the description was done through the "copy" command on the image page.

Thanks, I will seek the troubleshooting manual.
  • Please disregard issue of moving to another album. I have found my dunce cap and am wearing it. It *IS* working as advertised.

Sorry for taking up your time.
