hyphens instead of actual characters in the url

I am very new to Zenphoto and playing around with it in my local server. I have added few albums in my local language (Tamil) and found the url only show hyphens instead of the actual album name.

But when i try to add an album in English, then it get showed in the url? is there any way to fix that.

Also i have been wondering, is it possible to assign custom urls to albums other than the album name. In that case i could have the album name in the own language and could have the URL in English. (Which is actually the preferable for me as i don't like to have utf-8 characters in the URL)

It is not possible to use custom urls. Zenphoto is filesystem based and actually uses the album name in the url to identify (although the url show is not the direct url to the albums folder).

You could disable the seo_cleanup plugin that clears characters from folder and file names if uploaded via the backend (FTP naturally bypasses this). In your case the char table probably does not know the specific Tamil chars so it clears them all.

But since no one really pays attention to urls I would recommend to use English or somehow cleared file and folder names initially. The title and the folder name are independent so you can of course use Tamil on the site itself.
