in the last couple of month's I have been switching between Piwigo and Zenphoto.
Because I like Zenphoto a little bit more (anyway Piwigo does a great job, I gave Zenphoto a new try.

During working on my site:

I have noticed a few things.

1.
I have seen, that my images have been tagged twice with the same tag.
E.G: http://www.pixel-wonders.de/orte/zwillbrocker-venn/#120325_zwillbrock_013.jpg

this was true for all images in the gallery.

showed:
Zwillbrock,Zwillbrocker Venn, Zwillbrock,Zwillbrocker Venn

Looking in the backend I saw that the tags are listed twice in the tag column on the right side (image view).
Fortunately I have made a backup a few minutes ago and was able to fix this with a database restore.

Any idea what can cause the double entries of tags ?

Had this before - which was the reason why I switched to Piwigo.
Comments and ratings are gone.

For test purposes I have commented and rated a few of my own
images.
The test was to verify the correct implemantation of this:

What I have done before the comments/ratings are gone:
I hit the 'database maintainance' (Datenbank aktualisieren) in the backend.
Can someone clarify what exactly happens when I hit this button ?

The problem is, that I could not reproduce it. As you can see with the links above there are comments displayed, although I have done a few clicks on the database maintainance button in the meantime...

I have already searched the forum for 'comments lost' but it seems that this happens only to me...

It would be great If somebody can give me a clue to avoid th loss of comments in the future.

Nice to see your indeed start a new attempt.

1. Actually a tag can be set only once. I see only two different tags on that image. It could have been an error with the database but hard to tell without any error message or else.

2. The database maintainance does match up the file system of the albums with its database entries. For example if you delete images or albums via FTP, the database naturally does not know about that. It will match up if someone visits the album but since you may use the info elsewhere like with latest images you can use this tool to request a match.

So if you lost comments or rating, Zenphoto somehow considered the images/albums news. This happens if you move or rename albums or images via FTP. Therefore there are tools on the backend to do that so the database entries travel with it.

What you saw might have been a server glitch or bug of an older Zenphoto version. Hard to tell now it is not reproducable (we have no reports about that, too) and no errors and other info available.

Btw, we would recommend to upgrade to the lastest 1.4.3.4.

Yepp, because I have done a database restore.

Seems to be a mysterium. I have not moved files/folders via ftp.

And - because it was a fresh install - i am working with 1.4.3.4

Anyway I will keep my eyes open - maybe I am able to reproduce it.

What did you use for the database restore? Zenphoto or a MySQL restore? If the later, that could be the source of the problems.

Also, what caused you to do the restore?

I have done the restore, because each image has doubled tags.
Say I have one image with a tag 'holiday' I usally. see this tag below the image.
But in my case it shows:
holiday, holiday

Because I have made a database backup 30 minutes before (with mysqldumper) I have done a restore with this backup (restore also with mysqldumper).

I can exclude mysqldumper as the cause of the problems because no restore was done before the problem occurs.

In this 30 minutes I have done nothing unusual (like database editing etc.) so for me it is unclear why I had the double tag thing.

I tried to reproduce it by hitting "Maintain database" several times, regenerated the tags twice, but at the moment anything is fine.

The only 'suspect' I have is that the upload has been done with the Lightroom export plugin from here:
http://code.google.com/p/zenphoto-publisher/

But if this is the cause, the double tag problem occurs 1h after the last upload.
As long as I worked on the site, I have disabled the cache manager plugin, so I can exclude this too.

What makes me wonder is, that - believe me - I had this problems before and obvious I am the only one...

I have only done minor changes to the template ZpArdoise:
- added the link 'Neuigkeiten' to the header
- added the Impressum link and social icons to the footer
- added the code block Google maps to show on the image page

Nothing - imho - that can cause the problems.
BTW: The loose of the comments also happened to me when using an unmodified ZpMasonry template.

I would recommend to use Zenphoto's own database backup tool for such things.

Of course zpArdoise is not a supported theme but I doubt that it can be the cause as themes normally just display things.

More likely is that the lightroom plugin could be the cause but again we don't know anything about that since it is third party.

You should look into the database tags table itself to see if the tags are duplicate there. And if so are there any differences, for instance spaces in one version.
