I am trying to install zenphoto for the first time. So far I have managed to create the necessary tables, but now I am stuck because when I call up the URL www.thechristies.ch/zenphoto/ the setup starts from the beginning, progresses through table adding, theme and plugin adding and then blocks on the following

http://www.thechristies.ch/zenphoto/zp-core/admin-users.php?page=users

with the screen simply blank!

I can't find out what could be wrong and found no hints in your FAQs etc.

Please help!

As always please look into your error logs.

I'm afraid I gave up on zenphoto. In the meanwhile I found another solution which is adequate for my purposes, and works straight away. There were just too many hassles with zenphoto.

Incidentally, annoyingly I cannot delete all the zenphoto files from my server either, for some reason.

So you give up without even letting us help after asking us… All sounds like a server configuration issue but not like Zenphoto's cause but without error logs we can do nothing but guessing. And in case you found a bug - which always can happen - we now cannot even try to fix it.

Certainly not being able to delete the files is no way related to Zenphoto. That is strictly a server issue.
