If in Admin I use the TAGS tab, I can create a Tag.

If, from the front end, viewing an image or an album, I click Admin and edit image, I get the mechanism for creating a new Tag plus list of existing tags but, on clicking Apply, no new tag is created or applied - same if I select edit this album, then images and try to do a batch addition of a tag - it goes through the motions but neither creates nor applies no tags.

Please upgrade to 1.6.5 and review your error logs including browser console.

Since nothing changed in 1.6.5 here just to clarify: To add on the edit pages you have to add it with the + icon button to the list before applying. Just entering the new tag in the input field is not enough.

So, to add a tag to images as a bulk action:

check all the images
click 'add tag'
enter the tag in the box at the top of the popup window
click the green + to the left of the new tag
the new tag now becomes part of the list available and checked
Click Apply
