after core upgrade I'm nomore able to list theme's general and custom dimentions in the flag list of cacheManager options, and generate the cache images consequently.
Obviously also my 3rd part plugin SmartImageCache is affected, cause dependant from the mane extension

On the other hand, dimentions of old or inactive plugins are listed and are not deleted by the specific button in the administration dashboard

We have not changed anything regarding the cacheManager in 1.6.6. The last change was in 1.6.3 nearly a year ago and only affected registering missing sizes used on the backend that previously weren't.

What version did you upgrade from?

Zenphoto 1.6.1 (December 2023) may have had some more changes to the cacheManager that may affect your plugin. I don't know. See the changelog: https://www.zenphoto.org/news/zenphoto-1.6.1/

I applied the upgrade from v.1.6.5, where I didn't notice the issue.
I am quite sure that it is not due directly to cacheManager extension, but maybe on the libs it uses to list dimention or something before.
I also tried to investigate if it can be tied to my custom theme, but I have seen that basic theme present the same issue.
Anyway there is the problem that lists also inactive plugin's dimentions.

All sizes registered for the cacheMAnager maybe listed but unchecked but that is nothing new. The basic theme does not register any sizes, it uses the default sizes.

You can delete outdated size via the utility button but if they are still registered still they come back naturally.

As already said before, also the utility button does not work correctly, and I continue to see old registered sizes, coming from inactive or deleted plugins

Sorry, I see registered sizes from active and inactive themes and plugins. That is correct that way as inactive but present sizes are listed intentionally.

Ok. So maybe could be a suggestion that the description on utility button should be better clarified.
