When an album is shown, it shows the latest image file date in the default theme. Also, the Archive view in that theme uses the image file date.

It would be very good if the EXIF data could be used for this purpose instead.

EXIF for the album? There is none, the album is just a folder. As for the image, it will use the EXIF date information (or the IPTC date information) if it exists.

hey,
i would find it quite convenient if it would be possible to use the EXIF date of a photo (newest, oldest, album thumb) as the album date.
This would be extremely useful if you upload a bunch of albums with photos which where taken some time ago to get the right sort order.
Any chance of implementing this feature?

That option already exists:
Options > Gallery > Gallery behaviour > use latest image date as album date

oh, thx... then i have to take a closer look at my photos, because i activated this option, but the albums are sorted after the time uploaded and not after the EXIF tag date taken in the image (could it be that the file date of the image is taken?)

First, if you have just made the change to the option you should refresh your metadata. Otherwise nothing is changed until a newer image is uplaoded.

Then you need to tell us what option you have for the album sort and if the album shows the proper date when you look at it from the admin tabs.

You can see what date will be used from the images by looking (again in the admin pages) at the date they have assigned.
