Hello,
I think the installation guide is not so well detailed.
I have big trouble to install zenphoto 1.2 over a 1.0.8 and I m not sure the script did the installation correctly.
I lost commentaries.
I want to be sure if I put the album folder in the zenphoto it s going to be ok (because the db lost the datas on the upgrade process...)

Well I'm not so positivly surprise by the zenphoto ubgrad

the site : scarf.zayann.org/zenphoto

You probably did not loose your database entries, instead you probably gave zenphoto a different table prefix than you were using on the 1.0.8 version. (You are also installing version 1.2.1--it is important to provide us with correct information if you want our help.)

Ok thank you sorry for that,
yes it's the last 1.2.1
I did not mention the prefix to the setup script.

How can I do a clean install, I still have the album folder with the pictures and I have a sql backup of the database.

thank you really much for your help

Use a tool like PHPMyAdmin to look at the tables in your database. You will probably find that there are two of each with different prefixes. Just change the prefix to the one that was originally used.

Thank you Sbillard,

I can show you a past/copy of the tables,
I think I need to reinstall the 1.0.8, restore the database and do the upgrad again correctly, is that correct.
Or what can I do if I creat an other database, relaod the sql backup. Upgrad with the 1.2.1 ?
Thank you for your time

Ok sbillard,
here is my database restored (I dont take the time to do the tables correctly sorry but it should give you an idea):

Table Action RecordsTip Type Collation Size Overhead
albums Browse Structure Search Insert Empty Drop 14 MyISAM latin1_swedish_ci 6.5 KiB -
comments Browse Structure Search Insert Empty Drop 561 MyISAM latin1_swedish_ci 1.6 MiB -
images Browse Structure Search Insert Empty Drop 166 MyISAM latin1_swedish_ci 26.3 KiB -
3 table(s) Sum 741 MyISAM latin1_swedish_ci 1.6 MiB 0 B

with the 1.0.8 we have only 3 tables..

Should I try again the installation
Thank you for your hel

It may be that too much has changed from 1.0.8. (I was not involved with zenphoto then.) Maybe your best bet is to upgrade to an earlyer version first. You can find older versions here: http://www.zenphoto.org/files/

Thanks you,
then it's working again with the 1.0.8 and that's perfect !

I decided to upgrade because of the spaming, everyday I have twenty comments about viagra and so with links and all the s*ç%*&t. I have to do a big clean everyweek to not be ridiculous

I don't see anything about comments configuration (activate or not) in the config file.

Sorry, can't help you there. 1.0.8 is ancient history. The current zenphoto has multiple choices of spam filtering, but of course, you would have to be running on this version to make use of the features.

I would suggest you try upgrading first to verson 1.1 then to later versions. If you make an upgrade leap that does not work, try installing an intermediate version.

My problem is this one:- I keep going round-and-round..
About to update tables...
Table creation failure: BLOB/TEXT column 'title' can't have a default value
Table creation failure: BLOB/TEXT column 'title' can't have a default value
Table creation failure: Table 'zp_database.zp_images' doesn't exist
Zenphoto Error
MySQL Query ( SELECT folder, sort_order, `title`, `show`, `dynamic`, `search_params` FROM `zp_albums` WHERE `parentid` IS NULL ORDER BY id ) failed. Error: Table 'zp_database.zp_albums' doesn't exist
It looks like your zenphoto tables haven't been created. You may need to run the setup script.

Please try the nightly.

sorry- what does this mean? I'm totally new to this!

The nightly builds are the development versions. I am sure the issues has been corrected there. You get them here (link is on our download page, too): http://www.zenphoto.org/files/nightly/

many thanks - re-installed and all working now. Surely I don't have to upload individual images??? I have about 1,000!!!

Thanks for all the very prompt support! All working and loaded by simple cut 'n paste its everything I wanted great! thanks jeffjohn

You can use FTP to upload your images. Actually zenphoto does not care how you get them into the albums folder. It just discovers what is there.
