Hi Guys

I am blown away in how fast I was able to get up and running with ZenPhoto, where have you been all my life! I FTP into the back end of Zenphoto without touching any control panels and after some tweeking in the initial set-up it is laid out perfectly fine.

Okay just a couple of quickies

  1. Now can I at the same time I FTP the snaps in, can I send a "TAG file" and "Description file" so that Zenphoto can picks up the files in exactly the same way it picks the photo files up? I am desperate not to have to install this info into the snap at source.

  2. Can I ftp a "description" file straight into the ZenDB field as an alternative method.

Well, we have been here for a few years now...:-)

  1. No, you have to do that either on the backend or before upload by attaching EXIF/IPTC data to your images. Zenphoto then will read this EXIF data.

  2. You can't ftp to a database, technically impossible.... Of course you can add data to the database directly by using tools like phpMyAdmin but in that case using the backend is more convenient.

The best method is to place the tags and descriptions directly into the image EXIF/IPTC data. Then it will always be there with the image no matter what happens to your database. There are many good tools to do this. I use Adobe Bridge (part of Photoshop and the "Photoshop lite" applications.)

Hi Guys thanks for the tip.

At the moment I am driving snaps at Zenphoto' album folder, by the folders full of snaps, where Zen pick up the gear, just great.

How do I inject the description/tag text using PHP?

There is (quite obviously) a admin backend. Or you attach that info via EXIF/IPTC to the images before uploading. Zenphoto will read these then.

Also you can look at the zenphoto objects in the function guide.
