I'm looking to find a way to automate image cache generation.

it's probably possible to do this with wget, but with cookie login/password it's too tricky for me.

does someone know how ?

Sorry, what are you really wanting?

Images are cached when needed. If you are antsy to get it done use the utilities that cache images on the admin pages (overview and for each album)

Of course note that if your theme used uses special theme coded image sizes for layout reasons the standard cache functions on the backend will not be of use.

Read on the troubleshooting why pre-caching is not necessary at all actually.
