Hi,

This is the 1st time I try to install ZenPhoto. I unpacked the packaged, went to the install page and then an warning said ZenPhoto needs gettext.
I activated gettext, restart the server, and then no way to have the install page. I have to deactivate gettext in order to access this install page.
How can I access this page ?

Note : I test with Wamp x64

Zenphoto does NOT require gettext to run. As the warning tells gettext is required if you want to use other languages.

But in neither way should prevent you from installing Zenphoto.

Ok, I'll try without gettext. I don't understand what is possible or not without gettext, can I install without and then activate it ?

The message I got is "La connexion avec le serveur a été réinitialisée pendant le chargement de la page. Le site est peut-être temporairement indisponible ou surchargé. Réessayez plus tard"
in english "Communication with the server was reinitialized during the page loading. The server is perharps unavailable or overloaded. Try later"

Seriously I have no idea as I don't use WAMP (I am on Mac using MAMP). If you don't need gettext, you can disable it.

Gettext is a server php extensions that enables to use different languages on the backend. It is also more or less needed if you want to run a multilingual site. See the user guide on that.

I'll continue my test without gettext, but the pb is that I'll probably need it. Is it possible to install without and then enable it or won't it work ?

As said normally Zenphoto should work with or without gettext except for the limitations mentioned. If it does not on WAMP, I can't help you, sorry. I assume you searched the forum already. Maybe another user will have any idea.

check you apache logs. I believe this is a configuration problem with the PHI ini file and when (and where) gettext is enabled relative to the mbstring package.

Sorry, I do not have the details available at present.

I found the problem. Gettext doesn't work (for me) with WAMP 2.1d x64, I must install the 2.1e x32
