Hello everyone,
I am struggling to find out how to set user permissions in zp 1.4.6
I have 4 different users, not using groups yet.
3 of them are supposed to see all albums (all of them are unpublished in this private gallery), which works perfectly.
but the 4th user should see only 4 albums and should be able to upload into one of them.
The uploading-permissions work, but no matter what I try, that 4th user can either see .. nothing at all, all albums an their content or all albums but can only see the content of the 4 albums I want him to see. Is there no way to show him only the 4 albums he can actually access?
Thanks for the support
Have you read this already? http://www.zenphoto.org/news/an-overview-of-zenphoto-users#rules-of-protection-andvisibility-for-zenphoto-obj
Since my options are displayed in german and I dont know how to change it just for a screenshot it might be hard to figure out what it says, but maybe if you know which box toggles which option .. this secreenshop of my current setting will help you figure out what my problem is.
These are the setting I use when the user can see all albums, but can see only the content of 4 of them .. for the rest it shown just a question mark instead of the album thumbnail and the albums are empty.

Unfortunately it doesn't say anthing about these settings on the site you posted :/
You can switch the language on the options. Actually since we are only supporting in English (well, I do understand German though), you should always do that. We just expect it.

Yes, they are not hidden exactly but should show a lock image instead of their album thumb (if that option is set).
Sorry, can't find where to change the language of the admin-interface .. only for the galery itself.
So what you are saying is that you cannot hide albums at all .. just lock its content. Thats a pitty, but ok.
Where can I find the setting to show a lock image instead of a question mark? I just realized .. for albums that use a specific image instead of the lastet, it even shows the thumbnail, even without access permission to that album. So I really would like to replace that by a lock if possible.
EDIT:
errrf .. I think I just found that setting. But in the description it says the lock is only shown if the user has no password. But obviously when you are already logged in but dont habe permission for an album .. it doesnt work?
Hm, I changed the language to english there before already but it didn't do anything .. maybe I need to relog to make it take effect. I will try that later, thanks.
So it's not possible to replace neiter the questionmark nore the thumbnail .. too bad. I hope this option will be implemented in the future or .. even better .. it will be possible to completely hide unaccessible albums - that would be perfect.
Thanks für your time
Maybe your server has no English locale then it will not work although it is the default languague. I had it on my shared host as well. They installed one for me in a minute though.

You could modify the theme used to use something else instead.
Completely hiding is also possible on the theme side but as said will confuse pagination. If there is maybe another way via filters/plugin I cannot answer at the moment. Actually I have admit I rarely use these features myself (a former colleague did). You can always open a ticket to suggest something.

Under "Managed albums" (Verwaltete Alben) uncheck all "view unpublished" (Unferöffentlichtes ansehen) checkboxes for the albums that the user is not allowed to see.
Note that after you save the settings the checkboxes are all checked again but the settings are saved.
That is probably a bug.
It should look something like this:
